Rick Monday, showed radio listeners the game against the Mets on Wednesday but also the game Brooklyn played against the Boston Braves nearly eight decades ago.

“He scored the winning run,” Monday said of Robinson’s debut on KLAC. “He was oh-for-three as far as the bat. But as a human being, he hit a grand slam for society.” 

“The Rays have swept the Yankees for the first time in eight years” Andy Freed said on WDAE.  “The first homestand at Tropicana Field in two years and it ends in a sweep.” 

These all seem like paragons of the species. Now, thanks to a terrific bit of game color from Mets broadcaster Matt Raad, I know what to call these baseball middle management folks. Perfect.
